Breaking Entertainment News

As everyone should know by now, the Danville German Society strives to provide the best possible experience for attendees of the Elk Toss, Charity Auction, and Winter Festival. To continue that tradition of excellence, we have once again helped to arrange for post Elk Toss entertainment at the Pub 2. Some of the highlights of the entertainment for 2013 include:

• Van Wagner performing music to open up the evening at 9pm.
• Slimfit peforming after Van at 10pm.
• Fred Iobst performing magic (this still needs to be confirmed)

Even bigger news is that the Pub 2 is planning on being a 100% smoke free establishment prior to the Elk Toss. The Danville German Society may have played a role in the owners making that decision. Even if that is not the case, we congratulate and thank them, and we look forward to cleaner air that evening.

Rules of the Farm

As you may be aware, the Wagners host most of the events associated with the 75th Annual Elk Toss, Charity Auction, and Winter Festival. These events are on private property, and we want to make sure that the the event is safe and enjoyable for all attendees. A few rules of the farm:

1. If you are under 21 years old and not accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, please do not come to the Wagner Farm. You will be asked to leave.
2. Please do not bring dogs.
3. Do not toss cigarette butts on the ground. There will be containers for butts.
4. Park in designated areas, and try to carpool to the farm.
5. Have fun.

Driveway Conditions Update - December 29

Update from the Wagner Farm:

"We really dodged a bullet this week! Amazingly the 2 storms that dumped a combined total of 12 inches of snow on Pennsylvania totally missed our driveway. In addition, several flocks of turkeys have been scratching for forage causing an ideal freshening of the gravel. It is simply preferable!"

Driveway Conditions Update - December 7

Urgent update from the Wagner Farm:

"If you had asked me last night, I would have said driveway was perfect. Unfortunately a front moved in coating it with some ice today. Danville had a 2 hour delay. I think people need to be made aware of this immediately."

We will continue to provide semi-regular driveway updates until the Elk Toss. Stay tuned.

2013 Preliminary Schedule

We're still working on the schedule for the 75th Annual Elk Toss, Charity Auction, and Winter Festival. It will be similar to previous years, and should look something like this:

February 16, 2013:
8:00 am - Pappas Restaurant for Annual ScrappleFest
9:00 am - Salvation Army Shopping Trip
10:00 am - Jerseytown Tavern for the Jerseytown Burger Eat-Off
11:30 am - Opening Ceremonies at Wagner Farm
Noon - Events and Auction at Wagner Farm
4:00 pm - ELK TOSS followed by more competitions and auction
6:00 pm - Leave Wagner Farm and head to downtown Danville
7:00 pm - Tour of Danville, including music by Slimfit (or is it Slim Fit?)

A final schedule will be posted closer to February.

National Scrapple Day

We wanted to pass on the news that today, November 9th, is National Scrapple Day. Please celebrate accordingly.

Also, the 75th Annual Elk Toss date has been set for February 16, 2013. More details will be coming soon.

Preliminary Elk Toss Date

The executive committee has set a preliminary date of February 16, 2013 for the 75th Annual Elk Toss, Winter Festival, and Charity Auction. More details to come later.

Mystery Photographer Identified

At the Elk Toss back in February, there was a professional looking photographer who was taking a lot of pictures of the event. Several asked about the identity of the photographer, and we soon found out that he was taking photographs for the Ted Yeager campaign for State Representative in the 107th District. Ted attended the Elk Toss as part of his campaign. We found some of the photographs on his campaign website (scroll to the bottom). Or you could just look at the photos that we borrowed from the site...
