Unarmed musicians occupy Liberty Township farm to protest winter boredom

Danville (PA) - Organizers say they will not leave until every elk is thrown and every auction item sold. The County sheriff's department is not commenting on the occupation.

2016 Elk Toss Schedule

Here is an updated schedule for the 75th Annual Elk Toss, Charity Auction and Winter Festival - February 6, 2016.

11:00 am: Arrive at Wagner Farm

11:30 am: Opening Ceremonies at Wagner Farm

Noon: Events and Auction at Wagner Farm

• Elk Bugling, Scrap Iron Toss, Salad Toss, Block Shoot, Beard Contest, Skateboard/Scooter Competition, etc.
• Charity Auction between events
  Annual meeting and officers reports
• Pot luck style food
• Live Music? 

4:00 pm: ELK TOSS followed by more auction

6:00 pm: Leave Wagner Farm and head to downtown Danville

7:00 pm: Tour of Danville begins at Pine Barn Inn bar. Potential tour stops include Old Forge Brewing Company, LT Evans, Pub II, etc

8:00 pm: Entertainment at Old Forge – Van Wagner, the Brothers McMonagle, and Fred Iobst

2016 Elk Toss Information

The 2016 Danville German Society Elk Toss, Winter Festival, and Charity Auction will be held at the Wagner Farm in Danville on February 6th, 2016.

A printable .pdf containing the schedule and a map is available here and is also available to be downloaded from the links on the right.

This year's events will benefit the following organizations:
The Gate House, Danville
Easter Seals of Central Pennsylvania, State College
Catholic Worker House of Lancaster

Also, we request again that you to bring cans and other non-perishable food items to donate to the
Danville-Riverside Food Bank. We also request that you bring laundry detergent to donate to the Good Samaritan Mission in Danville.
 

Please bring items to donate to this year's auction, and make sure you bring money to buy
stuff in the auction. Please bring auction items that you think that someone would actually want. 
Please do not use our auction as a way to take out your trash.

Feel free to dress up in your best German or PA Dutch outfit!  This is not a requirement, but
be prepared to be ridiculed if you don't look German. 

The Danville German Society recommends anyone who has enjoyed fermented and/or distilled beverages to book a room at the Pine Barn Inn (800-627-2276 or 570-275-2071). Information about other hotels (not within walking distance of downtown Danville) can be found here.

Elk Toss Weather Forecast

A few years ago, our friends at AccuWeather started providing 45 day forecasts, which are definitely going to be 100% accurate. So, here's the forecast for February 6, 2016, for Danville. It is good to know that we'll only get 1.1 inches of snow and 0.08 inches of ice that day. Maybe it is time to provide a driveway conditions update?

2016 Elk Toss Fundraising

The DGS Officers have determined that the money raised at the 2016 Elk Toss will benefit the following organizations:

The Gate House, Danville
Easter Seals of Central Pennsylvania, State College
Catholic Worker House of Lancaster

Please come to the Elk Toss on February 6 to support these great organizations and have a good time.
